Deshmukh, who sustained injuries during the attack, was immediately rushed to the Katol Civil Hospital from where he was later shifted to Alexis Hospital, police said.

Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was injured in a stone pelting incident while returning from a meeting in Nagpur district.

Significantly, the incident occurred on the last day of campaigning for the November 20 Maharashtra assembly elections, wherein Deshmukh had gone to Narkhed to campaign for his son Salil Deshmukh.

Videos of the incident circulating on social media showed blood dripping from Deshmukh’s forehead and glass shards inside his vehicle.
